For some the wallet-pain of servicing bills is nothing compared to the hassle of levering out brake pads and hammering stuck oil filters free. But you don’t need to rely on the hands of a skilled mechanic for everything. Spend a few minutes on your car with some basic tools and you could save yourself some cash. You won’t even get the dirty.

In addition to the standard kit (car jack, spare wheel, etc) supplied with your car, there are a few extra tools that are worth carrying in the boot. Even if you can’t fix the car yourself, you may find someone who can help if you have the rights tools like:-

  • Tyre pressure gauge

  • Screwdrivers

  • Spanners or basic socket set

  • Pliers

  • Client cloth

The last thing anyone wants to deal with is car trouble, in addition to the time and inconvenience that goes along with it whilst most drivers don’t mind getting dirty every now and then, the thought of lifting the hood of the car to replace the engine oil or jump start a battery is not a pleasing one. But the truth is that regular car maintenance can prevent unwanted car trouble, and it doesn’t always have to be a major hassle. The following tips for easy car maintenance will help you feel more in control and give you peace of mind when it comes to your vehicle.

Check it out: It is important to check your periodically. Changing your engine oil is one of the most important things you can do to ensure the health of your vehicle. Also check other fluids including brake fluid, power steering fluid transmission fluid and coolant on a regular basis. Don’t forget to check the tyres – at least once a month for proper inflation and tread wear.

Keep the engine clean: to keep a car’s engine clean, fill up with a high quality fuel, which can clean up deposits left by low-detergency gasoline and keep critical engine parts, specifically intake valves and fuel injectors, clean.

Spot the trends : If you realize your car is leaving random oil spots in your garage, the car may have a leak that requires repair. If you are not sure if the car is leaking fluids, you can find out easily by putting a newspaper on the ground where you normally park your car. If in the morning you find spots or strains on the paper, you may have a fluid leak and should take your car to a mechanic to be inspected.

Be suspicious smell: Just as you can tell when something is burning in the oven, you can tell when something doesn’t smell right in your car. When your car smells funny, it may be letting  you know that something needs attention. Caring for your car on a regular basis doesn’t have to be a both some chore. Just by checking under the hood periodically and regularly, you can help keep your car in good condition.
